Jean-Luce has been photographing the Paris fashion scene since the sixties. His pictures appeared in Women's Wear Daily and W from 1966 to 1975. In the same period he began his collaboration with The New York Times which continued for forty years. He enjoyed a unique access to the fashion culture during this period when designers were turning the fashion world on its head.
Suzy Menkes writes in the International New York Times ‘Jean-Luce has compiled an extraordinary record of fashion in the second half of the 20th century. Think of it as a treasure chest, containing the key to fashion history.’
"The challenge when I photograph a designer's creations on the runway is to catch the dramatic pose, the playful gesture, a stunning composition; those spectacular moments that appear for a fraction of second and then are gone"
